KEYNOTE – Enabling Developer Success with Platform and Interface Developer Portals

About the Talk

API portals have evolved to become an essential component of API management solutions. They facilitate self service, build trust, and can help an organization to create a developer brand. Portals need to be adapted to the context in which an organization utilizes APIs, but in principle the same API portal technology used to serve both internal and external needs.

A number of big shifts that have happened in the API landscape, however, now mean that a single multi-purpose API portal can no longer fulfill the needs of API teams. Instead, I believe we need two very different types: platform- and interface portals. In this talk I will analyze the shifts that lead to this split, and explain how developer portals can be made to better fit your audience’s needs.

Finally I will explore the concept of developer success, what it takes to achieve business success with a developer program, and how being aware of these 2 different portal contexts can help you to become more successful.
