Having worked with technology for over 20 years Marks knows that software products and solutions are only successful when they start making a difference for the business. Therefore design, engagement with the business stakeholders, building for change and taking feedback onboard are the most important attributes of good software delivery rather than the technology it's built with. So his early passion for programming has shifted to concentration on design of solutions and engagement with the business and product owners to delivery value from that design. Good Domain, UX, API and Event design is central to successful software products and that is where his focus is.
Outside of work is all about his family, whether introducing his three young boys to the joys of 90s alternative music or them introducing me to the new bands of today - I rather enjoyed the last Twenty One Pilots gig they took me to so its mutual learning! His friends are important too - but many cross over with work due to the many late night conversations over another acronym, an IPA, on practical adoption of microservices, how to incorporate GraphQL within an good API landscape, what comes first the event or the API.
