This talk explores how Stryka IO has built an API Governance tool using out-of-the-box Jira features for our clients. This approach enables customers to track different aspects of API governance and eliminates the need for multiple, often out-of-sync systems of record for their API Product Portfolio.

Most organisations want a robust API Governance and Lifecycle Management solution that integrates well with existing internal systems while keeping costs low.

Many software development teams already use Jira for project lifecycle management. With its rich ecosystem of out-of-the-box integrations and ability to link efforts across teams, we identified Jira as an excellent, cost-effective solution for API Governance. Combined with Jira's automations, exposed APIs, MCPs, and Confluence embeddings, it becomes a solid tool for API Governance within an existing company's ecosystem.

In this talk, I'll show you how to build a simple API Governance tool in Jira that enables effective, centralised communication with relevant stakeholders and external tools. I'll give a complete end-to-end demo of how you can design, structure, automate, and expose all the relevant aspects needed for API Governance and DevEx.
